You Tube Wednesday

I think it's time for a new tradition here on the blog. You Tube Wednesday.  I've seen too many great or funny videos lately not to share.  So here we go.

This video is ridiculous.  Stick with it.  It gets even better the farther in you get.

I'm sure you've heard "Call me Maybe".  If not, I don't know how you've escaped it.   I kind of love this take.  And if you're bored, watch some of the other ones they have of Obama singing.  They are pretty hilarious.

Volunteer Appreciation from Watermark Community Church on Vimeo.
And an oldie, but a goodie.  From our volunteer appreciation at church last year.  I fully realize it might not be as funny if you don't go to Watermark, but I love it too much.  And really, if you do nothing else, especially if you grew up in the baptist church, fast forward to 4:30...it's totally worth it.

Viva la Mexico!

At the end of February I got to go on a little trip to Mexico with my work because we met our goals for the year before.  There are definitely some perks to this job.  It was great.  We spent a four day weekend in Playa del Carmen and it was great.  We sat in some meetings, laid by the pool, played on the beach, did some team building, danced late into the night, and really enjoyed getting to know new people.  It was such a great trip.  I feel so blessed to work where I work and with the people I do.  We had a photographer with us on the trip, so none of the pictures are mine, hence their awesomeness.

Me & Laura on the way over.

See - we really did work. :)

Team building time.  We had to do different challenges to get the pieces of a bike.  Then we had to assemble them and got to give the bike to a kid from a local school.  It was a fun event.

D Town...kind of

This year was my small group girl's last D-Town (Watermark's version of disciple now).  They all had a ton of stuff going on with being important seniors and stuff. :)  So none of them signed up for the weekend, but we ended up crashing Saturday night.  I was glad that I got to spend at least a little of the weekend with my girls.  And we took a few pictures of course...

Getaway

Every year we go on a retreat with all the girls who lead in student ministries.  It's always one of my favorite weekends.  It is always really chill and relaxing.  Without fail I get to spend time with people who I already know and love and also spend time getting to know new people.  There's something about the bond of people who serve in this ministry - it makes for great friends for sure.

This year we were out at Possum Kingdom lake staying in an amazing house of a Watermark family.  They are always so gracious.  Mel had us do a project with playdo describing where we were spiritually.  Really funny, but it does make you think.  I don't have many pictures, but it was a great weekend.

Photo taken by Jen.  It's pretty.

Ringing in 2012

For New Year's Eve Jen and I had friends over to our house. I drove straight in from my Christmas celebration in Granbury.  We all made food, brought wine, and played fun games.  I love it when our worlds mix.  We introduced Michelle and Charlie to Jen's friends Tiffany and David and it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.  I'm a dork.

Anyway, not much to say about the night, other than it was so much fun to start a new year off with good friends and laughter.  Even looking back, I am so thankful for all my friends.  I didn't take a single picture, so I stole all of these from Charlie.

 Let the games begin!

Tiffany is fun to watch play games!

Accountability

That's what this post is for.  To hold me accountable for all the things I need to blog about.  So here's a list.  You know how I love lists.  Posts coming soon - I promise.
  • New Year's Eve party at the casa (yes, I'm that far behind.  2012 hasn't been blogged at all).
  • The Getaway girl's leader retreat
  • DTown - that my girls only made a slight appearance at
  • Company Trip - Mexico!
  • Julie & Marcus' couples shower
  • Turning 30
  • Spain!!!!
  • GAFIA - college girls weekend
  • Senior Celebration with my girls at church
  • Julie's Bachelorette
So there it is.  I'm seriously behind and ready to start taking back control of my blog.  It looks pretty sad these days!

Entitled...

I read this blog post yesterday and it really stuck with me.  There are so many times that I think I have made something happen or that I deserve something.  Most of the time I can creep into that mindset without even realizing it.  I start thinking things like the ones he mentioned in the blog post:
Life should revolve around ME.
Relationships are about meeting MY needs.
Fruitful ministry is the result of MY effort.
The things I have are because of MY hard work.
In reality, everything I have and everything I am has nothing to do with me and everything to do with the God who lives in me and who I allow to use me when He sees fit.  I love the list at the end of the post of questions that I feel like I should ask myself more often:
Who did it?
Who grew it?
Who led it?
Who inspired the idea?
Who got you through the crisis?
Who took it to the next level?
He did. As in, not you.
You should take a second and read the whole post - it's really good and filled with reminders that every good and perfect gift is from him, including my trials. (See also James 1).

Christmas on the River

My grandparents live on the river.  It's awesome.  We spent our Christmas with them over New Year's weekend.  The weather was awesome - we spent plenty of time out on the back porch.  And lots of great time with family...and lots of pictures!

Father & Son - my dad is a clone of his dad.

Christmas Day

Ahhh Christmas day - breakfast, snow, fun with family.  It was a great day!  I loved that the snow kept us in all day and that we got to just sit by the fire and watch it all come down.  Snow on Christmas is certainly one of my favorite things.

Baked french toast with blackberries and bacon - perfect for Christmas morning!

 Mom- taking more pictures.

The snow starts to come down!!!  Sarah starts to get giddy!

Present time!

 Lots and lots of snow!!!
