DTown 2010

This weekend we had our annual DTown retreat.  These weekends are always such a blast with the girls - especially when I end up with a great group, as I did this weekend.  The staff works so hard to make this weekend a blast for the kids, and I think they are usually quite successful.  We had 480 students and over 100 leaders there this weekend, so there was some guarunteed chaos, wonderful worship, funny skits, photo scavenger hunt, and just great time with the girls.

My favorite part of the weekend was during our small group times.  The passage that Mike talked on all weekend was Psalm 51.  We spent each session talking about a prayer that David prayed - Clean Me, Teach Me, Use Me, Mold Me, and Break Me.  This definitely made for some great discussion with the girls on how they want the Lord to teach them and mold them and use them.  I love getting to get glimpses of their hearts in these times that I might not otherwise get to see.

The group - Amanda, me, Maddie, Rachel, Maddie, Brianna, Taylor.
(Alternately titled: We Heart Nike Shorts)

Maddie on the floor...hit by some sort of invisible dart...no one would pull it out for her.  These girls are funny.

  Hannah & Maddie.
  Kristie and her weekend salvation.

Blurry proof that we do, in fact, see each other outside of family gatherings!

Hannah, Mike, David Marvin, Rachel, Taylor, Brianna & Amanda.

Me and the Fitzers...she's getting married!

Working on a service project - school supply sorting.  Writing notes and praying for the kids.  Praying for God to Use Me.

Photo scavenger hunt - Maddie is SO strong!

The Community Group - Katie, Sarah, Karla, me, & Jen
(We have a little bit of height disparity in our group)

Snow Goodness!

As I'm sure most of you know, it snowed last week in Dallas.  A LOT. I'm talking over a foot.  The kind of snow I'm only used to seeing when I'm at my parent's house.  It was intense.  And a lot of fun.  Until it started weighing down the trees and taking out power lines left and right.  Leaving our house without power for about two solid days.  It was an adventure to say the least.  I have a whole new appreciation for electricity.

Thursday night, before the full extent of power loss had hit me, I went out and took pictures of my newly engaged friends Laura and Spencer in the snow.  I always love an excuse to play with my camera.  And they were loads of fun to take pictures of.  So, here's just a few.

Holy cow I'm a Homeowner...

So, barring anything crazy happening on my inspection on Tuesday, this is where I'll be calling home in a month.  For good.  I am so excited about the thought of a house that's my own.  So excited about owning and not renting.  So excited about making this house my home.  I'm know there will be many pictures to come, but here's the first one for the blog! Richardson, here I come!

Really Official

This came in the mail the other day. My first letter addressed to Sarah Welch, CPA. I think it had hit me now that I am done. Forever. It's starting to feel real and that makes me excited!
